We're compiling a database of known drug interactions in poultry - particularly combinations involving antibiotics, coccidiostats, antiparasitics, and supplements. All entries will be sourced from peer-reviewed veterinary literature.
Why drug interactions matter in poultry
- âĒAmprolium (coccidiosis treatment) and thiamine - amprolium works by blocking thiamine; supplementing thiamine simultaneously reduces its effectiveness
- âĒSome sulfonamides combined with trimethoprim can cause kidney damage in birds if dosed above therapeutic ranges
- âĒCertain antiparasitics should not be used with other neurotoxic compounds common in poultry supplements
Until this tool launches: Always consult a licensed veterinarian before combining medications. This is especially important if your bird is already on a course of antibiotics or antiparasitics.
